Nancy Biniadaki is a Greek film and theatre director based in Berlin. She is currently working on her second feature film MAYSOON (shooting early 2022), and a mixed media site-specific theatre performance. She has directed theatre performances and videos for the stage in many theatres in Greece, from off-stages like Bios and Amore Theatre, to the Greek National Theatre, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and the Athens Concert Hall Megaron. Her studies in Film Directing and parallelly her long experience as Assistant Director in big theatre and opera productions in Greece and Italy, defined her visual style and experimentations, combining aesthetic and narrative elements of different media. Working with actors is a central part of her work. As writer/ director she focuses on direct communication with the audience and explores the emotional impact as well as the political dimension of storytelling.

Her debut feature film THE SURFACE OF THINGS premiered in Competition at Thes- saloniki IFF, 2017, and received the Best Greek Newcomer Director’s Award at Athens IFF, 2018.

Her short film THE MOON AND I, 2015, commissioned by ZDF/KIKA, received the German TV award Grimme Preis. With her film STILL COUNTING she participated at the Biennale of Young Artists in Rome, 1999, and received the Melina Merkouri Greek State Award. All her short films were screened and awarded in international festivals. She has directed numerous episodes for PARASKINIO, the renowned documentary series of public Greek TV ERT, 1996 – 2006, with cultural and social subjects, often researching the topography of the city and exploring History through the lives of individuals.

In 2004 she was Associate Director of the CLOSING CEREMONY of the Athens Olympic Games. She has studied Classical Philology at the University of Athens, Film Direction in Athens and received a MA in Scriptwriting and Directing in Sheffield, England.
